Local Future organized three conferences in the 2008-2009 time frame, providing excellent networking opportunities, cutting edge lectures, and ample audio and video media for sharing online.  Local Future is interested in organizing conference scale events in 2010.

 

2009 Conference on Michigan's Future

The 2009 Conference on Michigan's Future: Energy, Economy & Environment takes a head on look at the economic crisis, the looming energy crisis, and the environment crisis and explores possible solutions and a vision of a more self-sufficient, sustainable, and resilient Michigan.

Cutting edge speakers and visionaries include Robert Costanza, Thomas Greco, Richard Douthwaite, RIchard Gilbert, Peter Sinclair, Michale Brownlee and Albert Bates, a total of forty speakers in all.

2008 Conference on Michigan's Future

"The Conference of Michigan's Future: Energy, Economy & Environment" looked at the challenges of the monetary crisis and the oil crisis and proposes realistic, job creating solutions for Michigan.

Forty speakers including Richard Heinberg, Albert Bates, Ellen Brown, Paul Murray, Tony Earley, and Jerry Norica were featured at the conference.

International Conference on Peak Oil & Climate Change

Local Future hosted the International Conference on Peak Oil and Climate Change: Paths to Sustainability in June 2008.

The conference featured 50 presenters including keynoters Richard Heinberg, Julian Darley, Dr. David Goodstein, Megan Quinn Bachman, Stephanie Mills, and Pat Murphy.
